Fall Parade Part 1
Our zoo is proud to host a fall parade with many animals living at the zoo. The parade was advertised heavily before and had a wonderful turnout. The route follows the main walkway through the zoo with safety measures along the route to keep guests safe. Since there are animals that are considered dangerous, care was put in place to ensure safety like barriers and security along the route. The route is decorated with haybales and pumpkins as well as orange, yellow and red banners on each light post. The trees are in their fall colors, a magical fire waving in the sky. Along the metal barriers that are in place, fake leaves and tiny pumpkins form a garland wrapping along it. The first group of animals are the pride and joy of the zoo. A species that they brought back from near extinction, the Maclear's Rat. Keepers brought out three of the rats for guests to see. The breeding pair, not used to interaction were carried in tanks. The male, Cell Phone Bandit, would press his little paws agianst the glass and curl up his distinctive tail. This sweet little boy is brown with black streaking his back. As with all Maclear's Rats, his tail is bicolor with a black base and pink tip. His round eyes were wide as he looked at all the people from his glass tank which had a nameplate on it in orange colors. In the other tank, His mate, Embezzelment was curled up among the bedding. She has always been the shyer of the two rats. Her brown and black coat stuck out among the pale bedding. She had her tail curled over her nose. The black on her tail more prominant and further than her mate's. She's also a darker brown compared to her mate. While the two breeding rats were carried in their tanks, one of the few rats the zoo kept scurried along the keeper's arm. She was a special rat and was kept to become an ambassador for the species. Tax Evasion had been born hairless. Due to this the keepers had to be involved in her life from the beginning in order to maintain her health. Hairless rats often need special care with their bedding, diet, and often needed oil for their skin. Her skin might be pink but she still maintained that beautiful black and pink tail. She loved to be dressed in outfits and was dressed in a pumpkin outfit for the parade with a harness underneath so she could be leashed for safety. The sweet little girl loved to see people and the keeper in charge of her would walk her to the barrier to meet with guests.
The first "chapter" of our zoo's fall parade shows off our successful conservation species.
