Myotis nigricans
The black myotis is a dark brown or black vesper bat species. They have a pointed snout with pointed, triangular ears. These bats have incredible homing skills. They lead nocturnal lives, coming out at dusk and returning to roost at dawn. They are often seen roosting in areas with multiple other myotis species.
Range: South and Central America
Habitat: Caves and forested areas
Size: 5 cm (2 in)
Life Span: 7 years
Feeding: Insectivores
Reproduction: Gestation lasts 60 days. Babies are fully weaned by week 5 or 6 during an abundance of insects. After weaning, bats will leave their home roost.
